13 MILLION EUROS FOR THE 7 RELAUNCHING PROJECTS OF THE LODIGIANO SIDE OF THE RIVER PO |

To realize these 7 projects, that are considered priority objectives, 13 million and 234 thousand Euros have been invested and 19 Communes have been involved. These are the fundamental data for the Plan of action to increase the value of the River Po in the Province of Lodi, that has been approved by the Provincial Council. This Plan will be a portion of a bigger Programme that will be operative from 2007 to 2013 and it will put into practice the improvement Protocol, that has been signed by the 13 coastal Provinces of the big River, the representatives of the Lombardy Region and the Italian State. The investment of 150 million Euros will be shared into two parts between basin authorities and Provinces. To make concrete the area projects, every Province will receive about one million Euros.
These are the foreseen plans in our territory:
· Restoration works of the Somaglia’s Castle (2.000.000 Euros);
· The finishing of the cycle-lanes also on the riverside of Piacenza and the interconnection with the railway line and the River berths (3.304.000 Euros);
· Knowledge and study on depth of the provincial plans about the River Po for the student bodies (155.000 Euros);
· Planning of the River Po PLIS, a local park of public importance (380.000 Euros);
· Forest addition and increase of the biodiversity (660.000 Euros);
· Plan of tutelage and management of the areas of great naturalist importance on the edge of the River Po (1.950.000 Euros)
· The realization of the environmental routes infrastructures along the Lodigiano riverside of the Po (4.785.000 Euros).
The Communes involved in this project are: Livraga, Orio Litta, Ospedaletto Lodigiano, Senna Lodigiana, Casalpusterlengo, Somaglia, Codogno, Guardamiglio, Fombio, San Rocco al Porto, San Fiorano, Santo Stefano Lodigiano, Maleo, Corno Giovine, Cornovecchio, Meleti, Maccastorna, Castelnuovo Bocca D’Adda, Caselle Landi, Meleti.
The President of the Province of Lodi, Lino Osvaldo Felissari explains: “The establishment of a tourist environmental system to value the River Po represents a priority objective for us. We pursue it with the other coastal Provinces. If we relaunch the tourism across new infrastructures, we will create new possibilities of development for the Communes placed in the south of the Lodigiano area. We dream to acquire definitively a quality tourism that increases the incomes of the tertiary services sector and makes a seasonal adjustment of the stream of visitors, with important and positive consequences on the Lodigiano and its environmental and urban upgrading. The River Po is in no way inferior to the Rhine or to the Rhone River, where this kind of tourism is developed and gives affluence to coastal people”. |
