PLAIN FOREST OF LODI: THE PROVINCIAL EXECUTIVE APPROVED TWO PROJECTS TO GUARANTEE THE PROVIDING OF WATER AND TO ENRICH THE EDUCATION SUPPLY

The Provincial Executive passed two new works to set off and guard the green lung created at the gates of the chief town. The first one concerns the water fattening of the irrigation ditch Bargana, placed in the east side of the city, the second regards the preliminary design of teaching - hydraulic installations for the didactic centre of the Plain Forest.
The intervention of water enrichment is fundamental, because it’s doomed to an area of 14 hectares, that is covered by forests, lacustrine basins and moist land to give hospitality to plants (sedges, canes and water iris) and animals typical of the wet zones. For this reason, this area needs costantly a warranted supply of water, that will be drawn from the irrigation ditch Bargana with a canalization intervention. In fact, the availability of water of this ditch is larger than the current source of drawing, the irrigation ditch Cassinetta.
The second work involves the Teaching Centre of the nozzle Forest-Wood, that has been opened last May: the fulcrum of the play and didactic activities of the Plain forest, directed to the spread of the knowledge of the forestal dynamics.
The idraulic installations will unwind theirselves along the way of the ditch Bargana and with the essential elements of the Didactic Centre (the morphological terrace, the fluvial edge and the river) will be tools of the didactic activity, to exemplify one of the most distinct features of the Lodigiano land: the watered network.
The two projects have been prepared within the circle of the Agreement between the Province of Lodi, the land-reclamation association Muzza Bassa Lodigiana and the Lombardy Region that has been signed in 2003 for the “Increase in value and the environmental safeguard the rural territory”.
The costs for the water drawing of the ditch (65.000 Euros) and the didactic and idraulic installation (64.900 Euros) will be beared by the land-reclamation association Muzza Bassa Lodigiana and as the agreement with the association says, the Province of Lodi will meet an expense of 26.000 Euros, the 20% of the total sum .
The Vice-Chairman of the Province of Lodi and Assessor to the rural sector of the Authority, Fabrizio Santantonio explains: “The Big Plain Forest is born with the aim to rebuild an eco-system very similar to the primary woody environment of this region. Through these two works, we will rise in value this rebuilding, making it always more attractive both as tourist appeal and as place to spend freetime or also for teaching activities.”
